Dear Chicago Edge 8th Grade Parents,
I hope you are all safe and healthy. Traditionally we have held an information meeting about the clubs U15 to U19 program for our 8th grade parents in late April or early May. Due to the current circumstances we had delayed it so we could give you an accurate a picture of what the next few months might look like. Unfortunately it is still not clear what the future holds but I wanted to proceed with the meeting via Zoom on Wednesday May 20th at 7pm on the assumption that the season will be back to normal in August.
We will cover program structure, season timeline, balancing club/high school sports, expectations for practices and games at the U15 to U19 level. We will also have Kris Lyons, who is the clubs college soccer program advisor, talk briefly about the steps needed to play in college and Jason Fried, current boys varsity and girls varsity assistant at OPRF, talk about the OPRF soccer program for incoming freshman. I realize we have 8th grade players planning to attend a number of different High Schools but I expect, as it is with most years, that the majority will be attending OPRF which is why I invite Coach Fried.
I will be answering as many questions as possible through the chat feature on Zoom but if you would like to send me as many questions as possible before the meeting I can try to answer them during the call. I hope to have more information about this current season and tryout procedure for next year but please keep the questions specific to our U15 to U19 program if possible.
Call details are below. I hope to see you on there.
